Teddy Bear Hospital

Preamble

The Teddy Bear Hospital project was born in Germany in 2000 thanks to the BVMD (German Medical Student Association) and has spread to multiple European countries in collaboration with the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA).

Teddy Bear Hospital Quebec is an interdisciplinary student project that aims to reduce the fear of the white coat in children. Regrouping students from the health sciences in all four faculties of medicine in Quebec, this project aims to prepare a day of fun activities for children between the ages of 4 and 6 years old. Children follow their teddy bear patient to multiple medical stations that simulate steps of the healthcare system. The child assists the teddy bear as care is provided to it, setting aside the fear that comes with these procedures and making the child more comfortable with the system.
