Sub-Regional Training in Mexique

Aline D. Khatchikian, Regional Assistant of the Americas in Public Health 2015-2016 and Djamila Saad, our incoming president for the 2016-2017 term, gave leadership workshops during an IFMSA Sub-Regional Training in Mexico from August 10th-14th 2016 in Queretaro.

August Meeting 66th IFMSA General Meeting

The IFMSA-Quebec delegation was present at the IFMSA General Assembly in Puebla, Mexico, from the 1st to the 7th of August 2016. IFMSA-Quebec was represented by David Alexandre Galiano, Djamila Saad, Camille Pelletier Vernooy, Aline D. Khatchikian, Lena Zotova, Charles-Antoine Barbeau-Meunier, Xiya Ma, Alexandre Lachapelle, Bing Yu Chen, Mia-Fay Nadeau and Claudel Pétrins-Desrosiers.

Training New Trainers in Brazil

Aline D. Khatchikian, the Regional Assistant of the Americas in Public Health for the 2015-2016 term, as well as our campus coordinator for Laval University, gave a training in the Training New Trainers event at Belem, in Brazil, from the 8th to the 10th of July 2016.

NCDFREE Training

Djamila Saad, our Vice-President of External affaires for the 2015-2016 term, Karma Abukasm, our Campus Coordinator for UdeM for the 2015-2016, and Aline D. Khatchikian, our Regional Assistant of the Americas in Public Health for 2015-2016, were present in Ottawa from the 27th to the 29th of April 2016 for the NCDFREE training on non-communicable diseases.

The 2016 Canadian Conference on Medical Education (CCME)

IFMSA-Quebec was present at the 2016 CCME in Montreal from the 16th to the 18th of April 2016. Our team had the opportunity to participate in workshops related to student leadership, competency-based curriculum, success and failure and bullying in medicine, as well as the opportunity to meet the deans and vice-deans of the four faculties of medicine in Quebec. IFMSA-Quebec was represented by David Alexandre Galiano (President 2015-2016), Alexandre Lachapelle (National Officer on Medical Education 2015-2016), Chérine Zaim (National Officer on Medical Education 2016-2017), Aline D. Khatchikian, Mathieu Hains, Philippe Robert and Yassen Tcholakov.

March Meeting 65th IFMSA General Assembly

Our IFMSA-Quebec delegation was present at the 2016 IFMSA General Assembly in Malta. We were represented by David Alexandre Galiano, Djamila Saad, Camille Pelletier Vernooy, Gabriel Lavoie, Alexandre Lachapelle, Xiya Ma, Tara D’Ignazio, Karma Abukasm, Maxime Gosselin and Anaëlle Massenet.

IFMSA Americas' Regional Meetings

From the 17th to the 22nd of January 2016, IFMSA-Quebec was at the IFMSA Americas Regional Meeting in Uruguay. The delegation was composed of David Alexandre Galiano, Aline D.Khatchikian, Charles-Antoine Barbeau-Meunier, William Enlow and Lucy Teresa Shum.

COY11 et COP21

Our 2015-2016 Vice-President of Projects, Anne-Lou McNeil Gauthier, was present at the Conference of Youth 11 and the Conference of Parties 21 at Paris in November 2015.

Canadian Conference on Global Health

IFMSA-Quebec was at the Canadian Conference on Global Health from the 5th to the 7th of November 2015 in Montreal.

UNESCO Youth Forum

Our 2015-2016 VP of Internal Affaires, Wenzhen Zuo, was at Paris from the 26th to the 28th of October 2015 for the UNESCO Youth Forum, where she discussed important issues in healthcare with Youth around the whole world.

August Meeting 65th IFMSA General Assembly

The IFMSA-Quebec delegation was present at the IFMSA General Assembly in Macedonia in August 2015. We were represented byCamille Pelletier Vernooy, David Alexandre Galiano, Claudel Pétrins-Desrosiers, Wenzhen Zuo, Anne-Lou McNeil Gauthier, Aline D. Khatchikian, Tara D’Ignazio, Michael Skulimowski and Bing Yu Chen.

RESULTS International Conference

Xin Mei Liu (LORE 2014-2015), Anne-Lou McNeil (VPI 2014-2015) et Sarah Hébert (active member)  were in Washington from the 18th to the 21st of July 2015 at the RESULTS International Conference, where RÉSULTATS Canada (a partner organization) was present for learning more on their work in advocacy and for the fight against extreme poverty.

Sub-Regional Training in Mexico

Aline D. Khatchikian, our campus coordinator for the Regroupement des étudiants en médecine de l’Université Laval (RÉMUL) gave a training on public health during the Sub-Regional Training in Mexico between the 18th and the 22th of June in Leon.

World Health Assembly 2015

IFMSA-Quebec commends the work and the presence of its members at the World Health Assembly of 2015 in Geneva. Claudel P-Desrosiers, our coordinator of global health, Maxime Leroux-La Pierre, our coordinator of immersions, Yassen Tcholakov and Jouhayna Bentaleb of the administrative committee represented us from the 18th to the 26th of May 2015 in Geneva. 

The Canadian Conference on Medical Education 2015 (CCME)

Camille Pelletier Vernooy, 2015-2016 IFMSA-Québec president, represented Quebec in the CCME between the 25th and the 28th of April in Vancouver. Our SCOI pre-departure training was presented by our NOI, Maxime Leroux-La Pierre. The founders of the INcommunity project, Marc-André Lavallée and Anne-Sophie Tommeret-Carrière also presented SocialMED, a new awareness initiative in externship for vulnerable population.

Congresso internacional de estudiantes de medicina

IFMSA-Québec was present at the IV CIEM Dr Francisco Guel Jiménez in Aguascalientes in Mexico from the 15th to the 17th of April to exchange on issues concerning public and global health. Our 2014-2015 vice-president of internal affairs, Anne-Lou McNeil-Gauthier, who managed to share her expertise concerning global health and advocacy.

Forum Action Climat

IFMSA-Quebec was present at Forum Action Climat on April 13th 2015 in Québec, an event that aimed at reuniting civil society in the hopes of influencing energy policies, such that they fight against global warming. Our global health national officer, Wenzhen Zuo,  reiterated the efects of climate change and the medical youth community’s willingness to act.

Consortium of Universities for Global Health

Maxime Leroux-La Pierre andYassen Tcholakov presented the Standing Committee on Immersions (SCOI) at the Consortium of Univsersities for Global Health on the 27th of March 2015 in Boston.

March Meeting 64th IFMSA General Assembly

Our IFMSA-delegation was present at the 64th IFMSA General Assembly between the 2nd and the 8th of March 2015 at Antalya, Turkey. We were represented by Weronika Jakubowska, Alexander Lachapelle, Djamila Saad, Kelly Lau, Laurie Dolcé, Léa Boutin, Chérine Zaim, Patrick Ackar and Camille Pelletier Vernooy.

IFMSA Regional Meeting of the Americas'

From the 3rd to the 11th of January 2015, IFMSA-Quebec was at the IFMSA Regional Meeting of the Americas’ in Cali, Colombia. The delegation was formed of Xiya Ma, Anne-Lou McNeil-Gauthier, Aline D. Khatichikian, Philippe Cajolet, Camille Duranceau and Camille Pelletier Vernooy.

2014 Canadian Conference on Global Health

IFMSA-Quebec was at the Canadian Conference on Global Health between the 2nd and the 4th of November in Ottawa

WHO Conference on the Climate and Health

Claudel P-Desrosiers and Yassen Tcholakov assisted the first conference on climate and health at the headquarters of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva on the 27th and 28th of August 2014. Their experiences were published by Le Devoir and by Huffington Post Canada. Kelly Lau, a medical student at McGill University, was also present as an intern at the WHO.

64th IFMSA General Assembly

In Taipei, Taiwan, from the 5th to the 10th of August 2014, IFMSA-Québec won the second place prize for the best IFMSA project for its “My Planet, My Health” project presented by Wenzhen Zuo. Yassen Tcholakov was also elected for a second term in the supervising committee of IFMSA. Finally, IFMSA-Quebec came back with many contacts signed by are national officers for exchanges, Peter Maliha and David Alexandre Galiano.

Our delegation was composed of Claudel P.-Desrosiers, Peter Maliha, David Alexandre Galiano, Wenzhen Zuo, Yassen Tcholakov, Maxime Leroux-La Pierre and Camille Pelletier Vernooy.

Annual Consortium of Universities for Global Health

Our SCOI-Immersions program was presented in Washington, USA, in May of 2014. 

67th Global Health Assembly

Two IFMSA-Quebec members, Jouhayna Bentaleb and Yassen Tcholakov, were in Geneva, in Sweden, from the 19th to the 24th of May 2014, where they assisted to the 67th Global Health Assembly, organized by the WHO. The University of Montreal published and article on this subject.

PEGASUS, Peace, Global Health & Sustainability Conference

Our INcommunity project was presented at the PEGASUS conference in Toronto on the 2nd of May 2014 by Myrrha Arragon and Delphine Roussel-Bergeron.

The Canadian Conference on Medical Education (CCME)

Claudel P.-Desrosiers was present at the CCME in Ottawa on the 25th and 26th of April 2014 to represent the voice of medical students in Quebec. The FMEQ also obtained a voting position within the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC). This voting position will be filled by the IFMSA-Québec President.

63rd IFMSA General Assembly

Our delegation was present from the 3rd to the 9th of march 2014 at the 63rd IFMSA General Assembly in Hammamet, Tunisia and was formed by Claudel P.-Desrosiers, Jouhayna Bentaleb, Mathieu Hains, Patrick Achkar, Anne Paquette-Tremblay, Maxime Leroux-La Pierre, Joel Neves Briard, Frédéric Morin and Camille Pelletier Vernooy.

IFMSA Americas' Regional Meeting

Our delegation was present in Panama city, Panama, from the 3rd to the 11th of January 2014 and was composed of Stéphanie Lanthier-Labonté, Audrey-Anne Chevrier, Chérine Zaim, Peiyin Zhang, Camille Marcoux, Sara Khalifé and Maxime Leroux-La Pierre.
