Université de Sherbrooke (Saguenay Campus)

Presentation

The Saguenay campus, on the site of the Université de Québec à Chicoutimi, follows Université de Sherbrooke’s four-year program. By its location and size, the Saguenay campus is a tightly woven one. It brings together more than a hundred very involved, dynamic and proactive students.

The four major committees of IFMSA-Quebec are present here. Whether through OSMOSIS presentations, or the public health committee’s “Bonbons bons dons” organ donation awareness campaign, the Sexperts workshops of the sexual health committee, dinners on medicine and humanitarian aid by the global health committee, or fundraising by the human rights committee, everyone can find their place and develop projects that match their motivations.

Another great strength of the campus: organizing and setting up activities in the colors of its students and which meet the needs of the local community. Some examples? Just think of the OSMOSIS and Sexperts presentations given in high schools in the region and to Native American communities (mini-medical school in Opiticiwan), the collection of non-perishable food for the local food drive, the famous annual soccer tournament “Spread the Net” to raise funds to give to international organizations to buy mosquito nets, as well as to local organizations in Saguenay or to IN-Community internships promoting understanding of the realities of vulnerable populations present in Saguenay Lac St-Jean.

IFMSA-Saguenay also allows a discovery of international health through various conferences, international internships and pre-departure training, given in a delocalized way on-site.
