Objectives – Yassen Tcholakov

Having already participated in IFMSA meeting, I have a good idea of what will be going on, and therefore, I have made concrete objectives that I would like to meet during the meeting. Here are listed 3 of them, I will probably add some more to the list later on.
  • Lead an innovative TOT that will allow the trainers that take part in it to feel like they have gained new skills and to create bonds between them so that they feel like they can continue to interact in the future. This will be done by building a very different schedule from the TOT in which I took part in order to include more time for specific skills development and more time for sharing experiences and interaction between trainers. This will be accomplished by the end of the pre-GA, but its impact will be measured over the course of the next year when I see how those trainers develop and the projects that they take on.
  • Present the SupCo Reform bylaw changes and work with other presidents to achieve agreement and have the changes pass in order to reform this body of the IFMSA. A lot of work has already been put into this objective in order to produce a preliminary report and to prepare the bylaw changes, this preliminary work will be followed by extensive ground work during the GA and many presentations and one on one conversation in order to explain and justify the project. The outcome should be seen by the end of the GA, more specifically when these bylaw changes will be voted upon. The effect of this work will hopefully be seen in the years to come and we will have a stronger federation.
  • Accompany IFMSA-Québec delegates throughout the GA and bring about learning and understanding of IFMSA. The steps towards accomplishing this objective started even before the GA during the pre-Assembly training, during the individual meetings set with each delegate and with the feedback on the preparation process given to delegates (namely the feedback on their objectives). During the GA, all of this will be followed through by staying in constant communication with the delegates and by leading effective NMO hours. Finally, the real outcomes will be assessed after the GA through the delegates’ reports and during the debriefing sessions. Hopefully, this experience will bring forth the desire from all who will be on IFMSA-Québec’s delegation to be more involved in IFMSA-Québec or IFMSA or in any other personal involvement project.
During the GA, I will try to follow up as closely as possible on all of these objectives through regular blog posts.
