Day 2 – Oct. 18 – Editorial Comments of the Day

The second day of the conference which marked the official beginning of the non training part of the forum took on a shape which surprised many. In short, pretty much the whole day was spent in a big room with many very interesting presenter / conference givers / panelists talking to us, youth. Although it is interesting to hear from others who have worked with youth, I was not the only one who felt that we as youth were not involved in the communication (except for the questions we were encouraged to ask).

The best part of the day was definitely the informal meeting organized at the end of the day by Nasma Dasser, the member elected on the Drafting Committee for the region of Europe and North America. This meeting which brought together all the delegates from that region was conducted on sitting on the ground in a hallway during the evening reception; it was the moment where we could all feel that our voices were being heard. We all had our own opinions and finding a ground for agreement was not necessarily easy, however, through discussion we managed to take certain decision of how to conduct our giving of recommendations during the next day. The key element is that we did for the first time discuss, reason why we were all here and it felt really good.

I am currently looking forward to the next day and hoping that we will be given the right setting in order to share our ideas.
