Final review of objectives

Final review of objectives

My first objective was to learn more about the goals and impacts of research exchanges.  I really do believe that through my sessions and interactions with people who have been a part of this for longer that I, I have been able to learn the specific goals of exchanges.  However, I did not feel that I really got to know about the impacts it has on the person going abroad.  I think that I will be able to discover this better by talking to people who have recently gone on exchange once I get back home.

My second objective was to have a better understanding of the organisation of research exchanges.  I think that between looking at the bylaws and attending sessions, I got a very good organisation of this at an international level.  Once I investigate the impacts further, it would be interesting to see if there is a link between the two.

My third objective was to learn more about other projects in IFMSA.  I learnt about many through the project fair, but I think that my session in the medical education standing committee really was the best exposure on this topic.  It really gave me some insight about the work that is done outside of research exchanges.  It also got me thinking specifically about Quebec.  I think that once I get back, I will be more critical of the issues I discussed and me able to evaluate them more fully.  I also think that it would be important to talk to people involved in IFMSA in Sherbrooke and see which specific projects are available to the students here.
