Day 3: a mingling of nations
The application form market is an event that takes place during every general assembly, where people in charge of research and clinical exchanges in each country get the chance to exchange documents to complete all of the students’ applications. This might be the reason for the market, but in fact, it becomes a chance for people from different countries to come together, wave their flags proudly and exchange information, food and other goods from their nation. There was music playing, people wearing stickers and temporary tattoos from the countries they went to visit, eating and dancing. It was something quite special to see 20 people from 20 different countries, each wearing their flag on their shoulders and posing for a group picture. It is also a time to make new friends in the exchange sphere of IFMSA, in order to set the stage for the signing of exchange contracts. Quebec seems to be a pretty popular place, because we all got many gifts in the hope that we will send students to their countries. It really was an experience I had never experienced, and one I hope I will get the chance to be a part of again!
