About IFMSA-Quebec

IFMSA-Quebec forms the international affaires division of the Fédération médicale étudiante du Québec (FMEQ). We regroup all medical students in the province of Quebec and aim to raise awareness and mobilize our student body around social, cultural and global issues related to healthcare. Through their projects aiming to raise awareness, their international exchange programs and their position papers, IFMSA-Quebec is devoted to improving healthcare both locally and internationally.

IFMSA-Quebec’s Mission : By the foundation of projects aiming to increase awareness and action, of international exchange programs and of position papers, IFMSA-Quebec allows students in medicine to further understand social, cultural and global issues in health, all while investing themselves in their community.

To do so, the organization is actively involved on the local and national scene within the four medical faculties in Quebec, as well as on the international scene within the International Federation of Medical Student’s associations (

Pour ce faire, l’organisation est activement impliquée sur les scènes locale et nationale au sein des quatre facultés de médecine du Québec de même qu’au sein de la Fédération internationale des associations d’étudiants en médecine (IFMSA) sur la scène internationale.

IFMSA-Quebec’s activities are divided into eight standing committees, each being led by a national officer. Three standing committees propose exchange programs in clinical, research and international cooperation settings, whereas the five others organize projects in matters of sexual, global and public health, as well as human rights and peace and medical education.

The organizational management and governing of IFMSA-Quebec is accomplished by the delegate of International Affaires of the Federation médicale étudiante du Québec (FMEQ), who also undertakes the role of president within IFMSA-Québec. This member assists in the functions of the federation via an executive board (EB) formed by a general secretary, and vice-presidents in internal and external affaires, finances, communications, capacity building and exchanges. An administrative council also looks over the financial and legal affaires of the organization.
